  I bought the Venice city guide for my iPod touch 2nd Generation and I regret to say that I was very disappointed, almost frustrated - with it's functionality, not with the content, which is good as it is taken from the written book. It seems to me that the app is still in beta status and cannot be recommended for purchase (I am speaking about the Venice version, I don't know whether it applies also to other versions.)Some of the most annoying and fatal bugs are:- When you (re-)start the app, you loose the page you previously red. It always takes you to the first page (the beginning of the table of contents). This is the most annoying thing. Dear LP team, you should know it better. When walking through a city, you make short stops here and there, you want to read on where you previously stopped. But remember, the iPod is not a single Lonely-Planet-application device, users want to look at the calendar, contacts, skype etc. Whenever you do this, you loose orientation and have to scroll through the badly organizes table of contents until you pick the previous page. A simple bookmark feature would have solved the problem.- As the map is covered with points of interest (which is good), the app brings a filter function which allows for displaying or hide sights, restaurants, places to stay etc. This is an essential feature, but unfortunately, every time you restart the app, the filter is lost. How annoying is this.- Regarding the suggested walking tours: it is very difficult to find their stations in the integrated map. You have to switch back and forth between map an text. Many of the mentioned sights are not indicated in the map. My suggestion: Integrate the walking tours in the map, this would be a big help!- The content of the book has far to few hyperlinks. Often, interesting sights are briefly mentioned but no link is provided. But if you look it up in the full-text search, you usually find several hits. Please provide a better index!!- The search results page is confusing, there is no coherent ordering, if you click an icon which takes you to the contents of the book, you are lost and don’t know in which part of the book you are. Provide more visual cues for navigation!!- The locate me functionality did not work- ...Finally I bought a small guidebook which was much easier to use. For me, this lonely planet has failed in the analogue /digital battle, paper version is by far better. Dear LP team, please do (better) task analysis and user centred design and try to achieve your high standard also in your digital guides!

  Laden solange es noch kostenlos ist! Sehr informativ und schön gestaltet, mit Karten, Suchfunktion (auch mit "In der Nähe.."), Bildern u.v.m Leider führte auch bei mir die Installation zum freeze, es half nur noch ein Neustart ..

  Einen Reiseführer vom Buch auf ein Display zu quetschen reicht nicht. Der Inhalt ist gewohnt gut, doch zum finden der Inhalte muss man sich oft durch langes scrollen quälen. Ist Lonely Planet Travel Guides einmal geschlossen fängt die elende Sucherei wieder an. Wie hieß nur grad das Café.... Es ist die Fülle der Daten die Lonely Planet Travel Guides schlicht nicht mehr simpel verwalten kann und als mobile Anwendung Unterwegs dann irgendwie seinen Zweck nicht erfüllt. Inhalt 4 Sterne, Handhabung 1 Stern

  Super,fehlt nur die deutsche Version;-)) Sehr detailliert und für lau! Bin im August vor Ort und werds genauer testen:-)) Bei fast 60MB dauert die Installation halt länger....

  Eine schöne App, interessanter englischer Inhalt. Verlinkung okay, Kartenmaterial nett. Habe auch deutsche Inhalte zum Vergleich von Michael Müller Verlag gekauft. Ebenfalls sehr vielfältig und einzigartig detailierter Inhalt. Vielen Dank.
