  In my view, the best part of Fishies is the nice background image.The fish are not animated but just moving sprites, so a single static image of each fish. So there is no perception of swimming or any cuteness. The animation of the fish is jerky and not smooth (on my iPod touch 1st gen). There seems to be a fixed set of discrete rotation angles for the fish, which makes the animation even less smooth. When the fish swim a 'looping' they suddenly flip around their mirror axis to stay upside down. The flock behavior of the school of fish is quite crude and the advertised behavior for single and double taps are hard to see. For example, the fish turn around on double tap, but with some time delay and they don't get faster at all. So no perception of the fish being surprised and trying to escape. So, in total, I felt that the entertainment value is very low since there is very little to do actively and the passive perception of the quality of animation is very poor.
