I used the app on a trip to Chicago while walking through the city. You can use it offline, so it's good to avoid roaming costs. However, the app does not remember its last state when you switch apps, but always starts up at the default position (contrary to e.g. OffMaps). This makes use on the road cumbersome. Also, the inbuilt GPS location did not work (in airplane mode), even not in areas without high bulidings.
