Läuft flüssig, etwas zu leise
Der Azul Media Player ist auf dem IPad 2 vergleichbar mit dem erfolgreichen VLC Player er spielt avi wie auch Avis Videos flüssig ab aber man sollte auf jeden Fall, wenn man im Auto sitzt Kopfhörer benutzen, weil sie den Player lauter machen (hängt aber vom Film ab) sonst Top wir auch regelmäßig geupdatet!
Optimaler Player
Der Azul Player ist aus meiner Sicht aktuell der beste Player. 720p auf meinem LCD im Wohnzimmer funktioniert prima. Leider fehlt noch eine Playlistfunktion, aber die funktioniert bei den anderen Playern auch nur mehr schlecht als recht. Die paar Cent sind es auf jeden Fall wert. Der OrangeSceen gefällt mir nicht so sehr, lieber schwarz ab dem nächsten Update.
Vereinzelte Stärken
Ich möchte MP4 Videos ansehen, die mit Untertiteln im VobSub Format (wie DVD) versehen sind. Azul kann Videos sowohl mit einer eigenen Engine als auch - in meinem Fall - mit der iPad-eigenen Engine abspielen, da hier ja ein MP4 Video vorliegt.
Das Problem der eingebauten Engine ist, dass sie die Untertitel im VobSub Format nicht anzeigen kann. Entsprechend kann ich sie für meine Zwecke nicht verwenden (sonst bräuchte ich ja auch keine andere App!).
Die Azul-Engine kann VobSub Untertitel anzeigen. Allerdings kann ich mir nicht die Spur aussuchen (ich habe eine englische und eine deutsche Untertitelspur; es wird nur die erste angezeigt). Gravierender ist, dass die Bildqualität leider gut sichtbar eingeschränkt ist. Die gleiche Videodatei sieht hervorragend aus, wenn ich sie mit der nativen Engine (oder anderen Apps) abspiele.
